Proposed Activities/Actions.

In order to achieve the set-out objectives and contribute to the NDP III and Ugandans National resources conservation plans, the following activities will be undertaken

  1. Planned Action Task for Development will mobilize funds for the implementation of the Strategic Plan
  2. Planned Action Task for Development will map out local organizations that will implement the project in the affected specific districts in Uganda.
  3. Planned Action Task for Development will support in building the capacity of the local organizations and build partnerships for proper project implementation
  4. Local organizations will sensitize communities/farmers: these constitute the majority of potential environmental degraders while also bearing the hope of being environmental protectors (role in conserving wetlands and restoring depleted ones). Awareness will ensure harmonious coexistence of farmers and the environment. The Uganda National Farmers’ Federation should be provided resources to underpin action campaigns in the whole of Uganda. This will be the first step in saving Uganda’s rivers and water catchments.
  5. Advocate for employment of more environment personnel at the district, and sub county levels, and these should be empowered to foster efficient implementation of policies.
  6. Support and advocate with government to introduce incentives for communities and local governments that excel in enacting, implementing, and monitoring bylaws, as a motivation for the other communities.
  7. Support information gathering at local government level to enable proper policy implementation, which is based on realistic assessments.
  8. Advocate for adequate funding for the sanitation subsector is ensured through allocation of funds within the four relevant ministries (Local Government, Health, Water, Environment, Education and Sports).
  9. Support government to come up with alternative initiatives to ensure sustainable use of available natural resources.
  10. Support the government land policy to increasingly promote intensive farming methods as opposed to extensive strategies. This will ensure adequate and maximum utilization of resources, especially of land and water.
  11. Advocate to include restoration policies in all environmental policy regimes so that the already depleted environmental resources are restored.
  12. Mobilize resources to support capacity development of local organizations in environmental health and green energies.
  13. To link and connect social, cultural and commercial entities between Switzerland and Uganda. This is aimed creating partnerships, learning, linkages between the Swiss people and Uganda.

Implementation Strategies

  • Resource mobilization: The organization will mobilize resources through proposal writing, partnerships with local and international support agencies, approaching individuals, among others and work with and through local organization to realize its objectives.
  • Build partnerships: Environmental issues touch the lives every individual and of every sector. The Project will therefore create partnerships with relevant sectors of the economy but also will work and partner with both local and international organizations in the realization of the objectives of the Strategic Plan. Relevant ministries, Government departments and Agencies will be pivotal in the implementation of the project.
  • Create awareness about environmental health: Through literature, it is evident that ignorance, poverty, industrialization are key drivers of the many environmental challenges in Uganda. The project will through Ministries, Departments, Agencies and local partners create awareness about good practices that promote better co-existence of man and the environment.
